 Many families often overlook the shower hose after completing the renovation and installing the shower. It is rarely inspected or maintained, and many users only realize the hose has aged and deteriorated when they encounter issues like severe water leakage at the joints or the hose bursting and leaking, leading to floor soaking and wall mold.  A common misconception is that a shower hose can be used indefinitely as long as its exterior remains intact. However, in reality, shower hoses are typically placed in the humid bathroom environment, continuously exposed to alternating hot and cold water flow, water pressure fluctuations, and long-term mineral buildup erosion. Over time, the inner tube, rubber seals, and outer stainless steel braided layer gradually degrade, making them typical consumable bathroom accessories rather than permanent fixtures.  Understanding the appropriate service life of shower hoses and adopting simple yet effective maintenance methods can not only enhance daily showering experiences but also help prevent unexpected hose bursts and resulting property damage.

 According to the product standards of the sanitary ware industry and long-term test data, in ordinary household scenarios, the normal service life of a qualified shower hose is 3–5 years. For households with high daily usage frequency or shared by multiple people, it is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection every 2–3 years and replace it when necessary. In high-frequency usage scenarios such as rental apartments, hotels, homestays, and public baths, the hose is repeatedly pulled and bent daily, leading to much faster wear than in ordinary households. It is advisable to perform uniform inspections and batch replacements every 2 years to reduce after-sales issues caused by concentrated hose bursts and leaks. In contrast, low-cost and low-quality shower hoses on the market often use insufficient raw materials, have thin inner tube walls, and poor anti-aging performance of rubber gaskets. Such products typically fail within 1–2 years, exhibiting issues like hardened tube walls, dripping at joints, and cracking with leaks.

 Proper daily maintenance can effectively delay the aging of shower hose and extend the product's service life. First, when turning the shower valve on or off, do so gently to avoid sudden high-pressure water flow, as this can repeatedly strain the hose's inner tube, leading to wall bulging over time and increasing the risk of bursting. Second, after each shower, straighten the shower hose naturally—avoid prolonged twisting, kinking, or placing it under heavy objects, as sustained bending at fixed points can cause fatigue damage to the hose, leading to inner tube breakage. Additionally, regularly clean the accumulated scale at the joints, as calcium and magnesium ions in bathroom water gradually form scale deposits. Long-term buildup can corrode threads and rubber seals, reducing sealing performance and causing gradual dripping or leakage at the joints. When cleaning scale, use mild detergents and avoid highly corrosive agents to prevent damage to the braided layer and joints.

 During daily use, pay close attention to the condition of the hose. If you notice the surface of the shower hose turning white and hardening, localized bulging, weak rebound after bending, or persistent water leakage at the joints, as well as fluctuating water flow, it indicates that the internal structure of the hose has aged and failed. Such aged hoses have minimal repair value, and the safest solution is to replace them with a new explosion-proof shower hose. Promptly replacing aged shower hoses is a simple yet crucial method to ensure low-cost domestic water safety and prevent bathroom water leakage or floor flooding.
